We’re tackling one of the largest markets in the world. → Indirect taxes (sales tax, VAT, etc.) are one of the most complex and least sexy forms of taxes in the world. Today, businesses globally remit $600B+ in sales tax and ~$5 trillion in VAT every year. The average $50-100M business will manage sales tax filings across 40+ US states and 20-30 countries. The problem space is deeply complex and ripe for automation and better products.
Our customers trust us to fully manage their tax compliance. → Most finance, accounting, and tax teams are not experts in sales tax. They also have 12 other responsibilities to manage, that don’t include thinking about indirect tax compliance. Taxwire exists to be their trusted partner in managing their compliance from end to end.
What we’re building to serve our customers. → To achieve this, we’re rebuilding a global tax platform from the ground up: the data layer, the tax calculation engine, the filing infrastructure, tax remittance, customer dashboards, accounting + billing workflows, and AI-powered the services that surround it.
Our team has deep industry expertise + startup experience → Our engineering, product, tax team’s built the tax products at Stripe, TaxJar, and Avalara prior. Others started VC-backed companies prior to joining. Others helped scale other startups in the Office of the CFO. Everyone’s here to win and build something that endures.
Where we’re at today → Recently raised our Series A, have hundreds of customers across SMB and mid-market, and are growing fast. 50%+ of our customers are ripping out legacy incumbents to switch to us. We serve customers in tech, but also in non-tech industries like construction and manufacturing.
Our customers → We serve finance, accounting, and tax teams. Some of our customers you’d know like Omni, Pulley, Modal, Spellbook, and Middesk. Others you wouldn’t because they’re far outside Silicon Valley or tech (e.g. construction and manufacturing). To date, we’re very proud to have had 0 churn.
Our investors → We’ve raised ~$25M from Headline, XYZ Ventures, Vinyl, Recall Capital, J Ventures, Nomo Ventures, Siqi Chen, Michael Bock, Justin Mares, Mike Rosengarten (OpenGov co-founder), Erik Torenberg, and dozens of other operators, CFOs, and accountants.
We’re looking for a skilled, experienced, and motivated Tech Lead to join our Integrations team. This role is integrations focused. Full stack experience is a plus.
You’ll work closely with our founders, engineers, and tax SMEs to build intuitive, fast, and powerful product and integration experiences. Our product spans self-serve onboarding, data visualization, integrations, and interfaces that help customers configure and automate compliance across hundreds of jurisdictions. You’ll play a key role in shaping the core UX of our platform and making complexity feel effortless for our users.
Integrations are incredibly important for Taxwire. Our entire job is to understand business data, understand tax law, connect them together, and build products and services around it. This will be a key technical leadership role in a large, strategically important part of the company: our platform for ingesting, organizing, and annotating business data.
This is a great role for someone who craves impact and ownership, and loves turning gnarly, complex workflows into clear, polished software.
