Some of our thinking on culture

We’re hunting for teammates who crave ownership, control, and impact. We’re curious, passionate people and want to build a culture of people that share those traits.

We believe deeply in the power of small teams to achieve extraordinary things. We believe speed and quality are not mutually exclusive. You can both move fast and ship incredibly high quality products.

Working at Taxwire means that you’ll not just be juggling a specific feature or task, but caring for how your work effects the entire product and business. We’re looking for people that care about helping the entire team achieve great outcomes, not just themselves. That looks like being there for your teammates when they need you and caring about how your actions effect the goals of the business and the happiness of our customers.

We understand that many people don’t want that sort of responsibility or time commitment.

We want people with the ability to be leaders today at a company of < 10 people, and the potential to be leaders tomorrow at company of hundreds or thousands of people. We’re building with a compound startup approach, which means that to the extent possible we want to keep institutional knowledge in house and have leaders of the company come from within.

We’re also excited to work with people that want to do great work at this company, but also have their own ambitions beyond their time at Taxwire. We believe in supporting individual careers and personal ambitions broadly. If you have ambitions to found your own company or do something else after your time at Taxwire, it’s our goal to be as supportive as possible towards you achieving whatever comes next.

Values

Inputs > outputs

We don’t control our outcomes in life. We only control our inputs (what we do each and every day) and our responses (what we do when things happen to us or circumstances change). While we set ambitious goals and track metrics, fundamentally we care more about having world-class inputs. World-class inputs eventually lead to the outputs we seek as individuals, teams, and companies. If you want to run an Iron Man, you focus on executing the daily training plan that prepares you for race day. If you want to conquer an industry, you focus on the daily actions that lead to great products, happy customers, and exponential growth.

Operate with humility

We’re ambitious and confident in our ability to achieve our goals, but humble about the work and timeline it takes to get there. This is not a hype-cycle company. We don’t trash our competitors. We don’t brag about 80% finished work. There is no task that is beneath our founders or anyone else on our team. Everyone gets their hands dirty.
